Where Local Grit Meets DIY Superpowers

Howdy Granbury! We’re halfway through the week, and you know what that means—welcome to another dose (first dose) of your Hump Day Happenings, where we round up what’s buzzing, breaking, and being repaired right here in our hometown.

Saddle up, because this week’s got a little bit of everything.

🔧 Most Common Fix for Granbury Homeowners This Week:

ree

#1 Call: Rusty Metal Fence Posts (Thanks, Sprinklers!)

What’s going on?

I’ve been getting more calls about wobbly, rusted metal fence posts than I can count this week.

The usual culprit?

Sprinkler heads shooting water at the base of the post, day in and day out. That constant moisture causes the bottom to rust out—and boom, your fence starts doing the Leaning Tower of Pisa impression.

What to do about it:

  • Redirect your sprinkler heads away from the posts (easy and free).

  • Paint or seal your metal posts if they’re still in good shape.

  • If the rust has won the battle, I’ll dig it out, set a new one in concrete, and have that fence standing proud again faster than you can say “Honey Do Daddy.”

📞 This repair is quick, affordable, and makes a huge difference in how your yard looks and feels. Hit me up before the neighbors start leaning in to gossip about your leaning fence.

🛑 1. ROAD WORK ALERT: Pearl Street Bridge (US‑377)

ree

TxDOT is working on the Pearl Street bridge over the Brazos River this Monday–Tuesday, July 21–22 (9 AM–3 PM).

Expect delays, slower traffic, detours, and some frustrated folks in trucks with flags flapping.

🚧 Granbury Grit Tip: Avoid Pearl Street like that one cousin who talks about politics at BBQs.

🎖️ 2. Local Hero Alert: Chaplain Lowell Ercanbrack

ree

Let’s give a Granbury-sized high five to our very own Lowell Ercanbrack, chaplain of the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department.

He just won Statewide Chaplain of the Year, y’all! From showing up at emergency scenes and supporting our firefighters spiritually, he’s the real deal.

📸 Don’t just scroll—drop him a Facebook congrats. Seriously, post reactions make heroes feel like heroes.

🧠 3. Upcoming City Meetings (aka free AC + civic engagement)

ree
  • Historic Preservation Commission🗓️ Wednesday, July 24 @ 4PM

  • Zoning Board of Adjustment🗓️ Tuesday, July 29 @ 5:30PM📍 Both at City Hall

If you’ve got opinions on old buildings, zoning mysteries, or just want somewhere cool to sit for an hour, swing by. Bonus points if you bring a kid and make them feel like a city planner.

🎆 4. More Local Pride: Firefighter of the Year

Hats off to David Lowery of the Hood County Volunteer Fire Department!

He just nabbed the 2024 Firefighter of the Year award from the Texas Firefighters’ and Fire Marshals’ Association.

We’re talkin’ elite-level courage and commitment right in our backyard.

🔥 Takeaway: If you needed a reason to sleep better at night, this is it. Our town’s got heroes.

💡 Own Your Week (Like a Granbury Boss)

ree
  • Avoid Pearl Street from 9 AM – 3 PM unless your AC is too strong and you’re looking to warm up in traffic.

  • Post “thank you” comments for Lowell and David online—Granbury doesn’t forget its own.

  • Redirect your sprinklers, then call The Honey Do Daddy for that fence post rescue.

  • Go to a meeting. Pretend you’re on Parks and Rec. Or help shape the town.

Until next Wednesday, keep those fences sturdy, your traffic routes wise, and your local pride loud and clear.

Stay gritty, Granbury.
